Playing With The Boys

I live a double life. I have my normal "womanly" life, which consists of work, cleaning, taking care of the house & the family. And then there's my "tom-boy" life, which consists of hanging out in the car club scene with my car. I enjoy being a rare specticle (WOW BIG WORD! LOL) in the car club scene. Currently I am the first & only female in Project One that shows her car & in an evil kind of way...i LOVE it. BUT the only thing that I hate more than anything is being an "exception" because I am a girl. I don't want to be an exception, I want to be accepted. Yesterday there was a mini show at the Top Foods in Auburn, I took my car & Marcel took his. People actually knew my name & which car was mine!! It was quite exciting to be "known" by name. YAY!!

The Bondo Box Diaries

This is a Bondo Box (bone-doh box) & every hula sister or auntie has one. Every one of them are custom & put together to suit the needs of that particular person. There is no ONE box in particular...its just the one that can hold ALL your crap. LOL Here is Kehau's red caboodle, with her flowers on top of it so that when she's done with one song, she can sit down touch up her make up & add those flowers to the left side of her hair.

What Happens Back Stage?

Some of you have been back stage with us at performances & if you have, you have seen where the party really is. You see how we are, the real us & watch us transform in to beautiful hula dancers. When we are finished, you watch us get back in to our "real world" clothes, scrub the nasty "slut-red" lipstick off, and then you slowly see us go back to our tom-boy selves. Its actually hillarious to all of us. Here is Nalani, my hula sissy, who I believe is one of a few who have been with Uncle since about the beginning of KOK&M. Nalani kicks ass....there's no other words for her. I've watched video's of hula at the old halau (downstairs of the bowling alley) & she is STILL the same as she was back then....in between songs, she's jammin to her own beat, or singing whatever song is in her head...she's still the same! love you Nalans...

'Ola Menza

This is Ke'ola Menza....EVERYONE knows who she is, because she lets you know when she's around. She's HILLARIOUS & naughty, but isn't that what their supposed to be? Its hard to be upset with her when she does something "bad," because she always has a reason for doing it or she just flat out tells you..."because I want to" LOL Cracks me up...

Miguel & Melisa's Mansion

Ok, so its not a mansion, but its BEAUTIFUL!! They broke ground in Edgewood in October of 2006 & their dream home is now up. It has the master downstairs, along with the normal kitchen, dining, living area. And upstairs is 2 spare bedrooms, an office, a full bath, and a rec room with a complete wet bar. Here is a photo from their breakfast nook looking up.

Surprise Gram!!

This picture was taken back in April, while there for my Grandma's 75th surprise birthday party. I know its an older picture, but don't you just love how the different colors of the lei stand out? I love this picture of her, because everything about the picture is SO her. She's loud, bold, beautiful & so full of life. She'll be arriving here on Tuesday & heading out with the halau to E Hula Mau.

All you need is ohana

Yesterday I spent the early evening at Auntie Bridgette & Uncle Herman's house. Kapua gathered a bunch of friends & family to come & enjoy eachothers company, eat & spend time with Auntie Bridgette, who is battling pancreatic cancer. After awhile, the Uncle's busted out their ukulele's & guitar's, played some music, while a few hula dancers graced the garage floor with their hula.
