Cousins were the only thing that i had that were remotely close to siblings. I grew up with my 2 cousins, Chelsea & Chandra. So in a way, THEY were my sisters. Here are 2 cousins, that may not always get along now, but i'm sure they'll be closer as they grow older. They will be mean to Kyler & not include her in things, like we were mean to Chandra....but as they get older they'll look back on it & laugh.
this account was inspired by my hula sissy, kili, who showed me how she "captures her world" in her 365 day picture project!

Another Menza
Today I had the opportunity to shoot the very large Menza ohana. I was supposed to also take pics of Auntie Brigette & the grandkids, but she wasn't feeling well today, so that will be rescheduled for another day. While Auntie was resting, the gang headed over to Lissa & Io's for a small shoot of all the families. Here is the newest addition to the Menza Keiki....this is Miss Kyler. SOOOOO teeny & so sweet!

Its Cold!!
So all of a sudden our beautiful, bright, sunny days have disappeared & its not beginning to get COLD!! The fall has rudely interupted the comfortable warmth. However, along with fall comes beautiful colors. This tree is outside of my work in Kent. I pulled up to work this morning & it stands out compared to the others that it sits next to.

Silly String Game
So this is one of many games that we women play at baby showers. You're given a big thingy of yarn & you have to guess the circumference of the mommy's tummy using as much string as you think you need. Some people have their "ways" of guessing the size. Some people put the end of the string to their chest & pull the yarn out to the right side of their body to give it an arms length & then some. But not this fun blonde lady, Auntie Sue....she had her own way. She went & measured the circumference of her "girls" and used that as her measurement for Aloha. Turns out the girls are bigger....hahahahha (love you Auntie Sue-lani)

CHELSEA!!!
This is Chelsea and she's a doll. She belongs to my hula sissy, Lynn & her hubby, Mike (big sissy, Jess & big bro, Michael). She's so teeny & frail, looking like a baby who's in only 6-7 months old, but is actually 13 months old. Everytime anyone from halau see's her we always yell "CHELSEA!!" and she looks over at us like we're nuts. So sweet...

New Babies Are Arriving
Early this morning, Iolani & Lissa welcomed their new baby girl. She weighed in at 5lbs. 11oz. & is 19 inches long. I know her name is Kyler, but am unsure of the rest. I'll post her name when I get it. Congrats guys!! This is Lissa, blocking the sun from her eyes. Taken at Auntie Bridgette's bbq.

Car Shoots
While I don't do them as well as Armin (www.arminausejo.com) or Josh Mackey (www.mackeydesigns.com), this was the first time that I had tagged along for a car photo shoot. I got great pointers on angles & such, because a car can't pose for you, you have to make it stand out. This was taken in June when hanging out at Alki with Armin.

Game on!!
This photo was taken at Ke'ola's birthday party in June, but is still one of my favorites. This is Iolani & Lissa playing "the fooseball." I love the BAM yellow in the background, it brings out everything!

New Toys
If you don't know by now, I've been in the process of starting my own business. It is called Nymar Imagery & is set to launch on October 1st. I started with a thought of what I wanted to do & what I wanted to offer & went from there. Sadly, as I started thinking out everything, the list of necessities to start a business got longer & longer. I am trying to keep a strong hold of finances & getting things at a decent price with a lot of shopping around, pricing & such. I know what I want to accomplish, but I know that getting there will be a road that I've never explored & i SO want to try. Tonight, I got a new laptop to help with my business venture (and for other reasons also). So of course I had to take pictures of her...here she is fresh out of the box!

Put Your Hands On Your Hips
That is what I told her to do & she threw in a little hip action. When i asked her to do it again, she threw out the other hip. Too funny....

The Many Faces of Hoku
My hula sissy, Hoku, has been through an AMAZING change over the year. In January, she got the lap-band surgery done. The first picture was taken at the Na Palapalai concert in May of 2006, the second photo was taken at the halau in March of 2007, and the last photo was taken at Pikes Place Market in July of 2007. I need to make arrangements with her to take "skinny" pictures soon. I love you Hoku!!

Girlfriends
It wasn't until I joined halau that I realized how important having girlfriends are. Girlfriends are so precious, because no matter what they will be silly with you, laugh with you, cry with you, talk shit with you, they do nails/feet with you, call you just to say "hi," sit with you somewhere & be miserable with you. Speaking of girlfriends...here's mom with some of hers. This is mom, Auntie Sue & Auntie Charlene fighting over the Pikachu ride (its behind Auntie Charlene)...

Pono
This is Kapono-Pono (his name is Damien Kapono, but we call him this). He is my cousin, Chelsea's son & he is a big boy. He's only 3, but he's about the same size as Noelani, who just turned 5. He's just healthy. Here he is looking at me, like he was JUUUUUUUUUST about to do something & then I ruined it...hahahaha!!

From Here On Out
Just a note to my "blog-stalkers" (hahaha)....I don't feel that my pictures are showing their true potential on here. To me, they look pixelated & not detailed enough & I believe its because of how much I enlarge them on here. So from here on out, my photos will be posted a bit smaller. If you'd like to see the larger, original pic...you can go to my smugmug to find them. Mahalos!!
Amazing
Its amazing when you take a look at where you are now & where you used to be...the things you did...the things you saw & said, etc. For as long as I can remember, I've always had my cousins to keep me company....Chelsea & Chandra. Chels & I are the same age (she's older..ha! by 3 months) and Chan is 3 years younger than us. My fondest memories of growing up with them, is that Chels & I would NEVER want to play with her...or if we did, we'd play Hide & Seek & never find her. I remember being rotten to her, but that's cuz she was rotten. (HAHAHHA!) Well time has come where revenge is so sweet & Chan has a daughter of her own, Miss Noelani...who reminds me SO much of how Chan used to be. Anyhoo, today was Noelani's 5th birthday party at her mama & papa's house, complete with a waterslide, face painting and PONY'S!! While setting up the waterslide, Chan ending up sliding down it & right behind her came, Noelani & flew Chan right off the slide. This is a pic of them laughing at eachother over it....

Shooting From Above
I typically like to "shoot" people from above, meaning....standing on a chair or some place higher than where they are sitting or standing. For 2 reasons, 1 being the angle....its just different & most times it makes for a good photo op. 2nd reason...to get rid of the chinS. Yes, plural...CHINS! I have 2 & sometimes a straight angle or a lower angle, i have 3...EW! Not flattering at all. So during this trip, I tried my best to give everyone ONE CHIN!! Here is Tisha kahiko solo picture with the ho'opa'a. I love the reds in their kihei & the blue in Tish's skirt.
